schools

We provide a range of products suitable for use in schools in a wide range of areas, from art, to eating, school events, camps and trips, to education and conservation programmes and waste solutions. We can visit your premises and take a look at what is already being used, suggesting some alternative products to make the switch to being environmentally friendly easy!

Our compostable and biodegradable plates and bowls are fantastic for mixing up paint in the art room. Compostable gloves will help protect clothing. Once their art is done the kids can remove their gloves and learn how to compost them!
If you wish to use an education programme for your children, worm farming is a fun way for the kids to learn about composting organic material, and all the Friendlypak biodegradable products can safely be disposed of in a worm farm too.

Get your kids taking home our disposable zip lock bags for parents to pack lunches in, then either re-use or dispose of in the organic waste stream of the Friendlypak Waste Solution Centre, set up in the lunch eating area.
Encouraging parents to use our new biodegradable cling film is great for storing food, and is completely compostable, allowing it to be disposed of along with your other compostable items. As well as being biodegradable, our cling film is also safe and non-toxic.

The Waste Solution Centre consists of stackable coloured bins, labelled with each waste stream, e.g:  paper recycling, landfill, organic/green waste.  This encourages children to responsibly dispose of their waste, and the separation of the streams results in a huge reduction of waste going to landfill, and the opportunity for the organic matter to be returned to the earth through worm farming or composting.
The stackable bins are available in five different colours, and are very space efficient.

For the staffroom, food scraps can be disposed of in either our Max Air or Tall Air bins with compostable liners. These ventilated bin systems are fantastic for organic refuse, particularly fruit and vegetable peels! When they’re full, simply tie up the liner and take directly to the compost, worm farm or green collection bin, as the liner will compost along with the contents. Our zip lock bags and cling film can also be disposed of in the Max and Tall Air bins.

We also supply liners to fit all size bins for other areas within the premises. By using bin liners you also save time and effort cleaning out smelly bins, and do the environment a big favour.  Change over to our compostable bin liners and amaze the children by allowing them to feel the difference between a standard plastic bag made from oil, and a bio-plastic bag made from maize starch.  They will be able to feel the difference instantly, and learn about the difference between the two bags and why bio-plastic is so much better for the environment.

A new product which has just become available is the revolutionary Desk Cube, perfect for teachers desks. Simply remove the under desk rubbish bin entirely and replace with the Desk Cube lined with a compostable liner. This is all that’s needed as a holder for those messy items like coffee spills, apple cores, gum, tissue etc. The Desk along with any other waste items like paper and drink bottle are simply carried to a central waste separation centre for sorting.

The Desk Cube is small enough to fit in a draw or on a desk, yet the benefits of this relatively small change are significant. Diversion from landfill of 60% to 90% begins with the Desk Cube and Max Air and is almost immediate, generating cost savings that usually more than cover the expenses. Staff usually plan their walk to the separation centre to coincide with something else so little if any extra time is taken. The extra exercise improves their health, wellbeing and work efficiency. Staff moral rises because they can see the difference the changes make - a win-win for all, including the environment!

Swimming days, sports days, camps and trips are all perfect opportunities to use our disposable plates, cups, cutlery and serviettes, kids love our brightly coloured Potatopak range – which is actually edible! Also a great education opportunity to teach kids about how a range like this is made, from starch left over at a potato processing plant.  How Mr. Potato turned into a bright yellow BBQ plate makes for interesting learning!

For the staffroom, we offer a wide range of products, such as our compostable coffee cups. Available in all of the standard sizes, with lids to fit. We encourage the use of our unbleached paper serviettes to wrap around the cup for protection from heat and spills. Our Sugar Cane and Potatopak ranges are great for storing food, and are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes. We also offer compostable drinking straws and utensils, in a few different sizes.
